Since when is a sloop rig "far from ideal"? If you do not care about upwind performance, what exactly are your aims?

How about remove all the rigging and have an unstayed mast with a junk sail, as an example, too extreme ?

    What design is it?

Then you could have just stated that. Not a good attitude to have when asking for help to make accusations. Good luck.

Good points. A sloop rig is still one of the most versatile setups, especially for upwind performance. But for someone prioritizing ease of handling, low maintenance, or shallow draft sailing, alternatives like a junk rig can make sense. An unstayed mast with a junk sail might sound radical, but it's been successfully used in plenty of cruising designs. Knowing the original hull design would help—some hulls just aren't well-matched with unstayed rigs due to balance or structural concerns.

First of all-I've wiped my first post, it probably should've given a clue that there is no point in commenting here.
But if you're interested, my inquiry was about simplifying 7/8 fractional rig with checks and runners and optimising it for reaching and running, i want to make a new bulkhead, sweep spreaders a lot, get rid of checks and runners, maybe even backstay, maybe even move the mast aft a bit, i.e. Make planing sailing as easy as possible.
